In August 2001, Ed Brewer passed the Elk Grove
Chrysler/Jeep Dealership and noticed a PT Cruiser that had a unique
color, Frosted Taupe. At that moment in time, he was unaware that
the Cruiser would join his car collection and that he would be the
founder of one of the most successful and fun loving car clubs in
the West. Thus, began the Capital PT Cruisers.
Ed placed an advertisement in the Sacramento Bee Automobile Note
section that read “PT Cruiser owners, if you are interested in
starting a car club, call Ed Brewer at this number”. The phone
began to ring off the hook that night. The interested individuals’
names, year of cars and phone numbers were exchanged. In October
2001, the first meeting occurred at Mel’s Diner in Elk Grove.
Twenty-six potential members attended. Ed could see that this was
an exceptional group of people and proud PT Cruiser owners. In no
time at all, they began to connect and develop many ideas about the
philosophy of the club. The words “pride and fun-loving activities”
were repeated over and over again.
The next step was to develop the Club’s “Logo”, find Sponsorship and
a meeting place.
Ed developed a partnership with the Elk Grove Chrysler/Jeep
Dealership and signed on to be our sponsor. The dealership allows
the club to use their facilities for meetings and donates supplies,
gifts for drawings, snacks, discounts on auto parts/repairs,
plus a banner with the club’s logo. This relationship still exists
and continues to be strong and beneficial for both parties.
"The Original
Mel's Diner" while not an Official Sponsor of our club has always
provided as a place to meet before cruises and is a major sponsor of
the Capital PT Cruisers annual Toys for Tots event providing prizes
and discounts on rocking good food!
The club has been involved in countless endeavors during the past
years and has attended many parades, cruises, nonprofit activities
and just plain ole fun things. With tight knit members in
the club and with great expectations to add new members, this club
will continue to grow and have fun doing it.
Thanks everyone for making the past years successful and fun loving |
